Promoting biodiverity – Filling the gap between field and fork
Promoting biodiversity is an important task to help shape a viable future: The loss of biodiversity is one of the most influential factors in the current environmental crisis. Cafeterias or canteens offer great potential to achieve changes towards sustainable nutrition directly at the consumer level.
In this master's thesis, a business concept was developed that connects stakeholders of the out-of-home catering industry, to a platform for the multiplication of changes; an app that opens a window behind the plate and enables a playful access to knowledge by virtual reality and a concept for participatory menu adaptation in a school canteen.
The goal is to fill the gap between field and fork with knowledge and enjoyment and to support people in making responsible decisions. The thesis was written in the context of a project which is headed by the Wuppertal Institute in a research network with the Technical University Berlin and the University of Applied Sciences Münster.
