Visionlabs
Visionlabs is the in-house institute for visionary product and innovation development at the University of Wuppertal.
The aim of the institute is to develop visionary, forward-looking and innovative products and services that formulate perspectives for the technological, social and ecological challenges of the medium and long-term future.
The Institute is equally anchored in the Bachelor's degree course in Industrial Design and the Master's degree course in Strategic Product and Innovation Development at the Faculty of Design and Art. In line with the orientation of both courses, the Institute concentrates on carrying out disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research with a strong focus on application.
Special feature
Our process brings unspoken needs to light. Simulations create advance experience of future product scenarios (preexperience). The players correspond to the target group of the day after tomorrow.
Projects
Medium to long-term problems (time horizon 5-10 years); open tasks that call into question central aspects of a company's business today or in the near future.
Result
The results of the Visionlabs projects are impressive. In addition to extensive research documentation on the overall topic, three to x highly innovative concepts are developed by our students, depending on the agreement. A real highlight is the obligatory exhibition at the end of each Visionlab project.
