Development of process-optimizing software for DB Cargo AG

The practice-oriented master thesis was written in a digitization laboratory of DB AG and focused on a user-centered design process. This means that the end user is at the centre of all development phases and is actively involved in various processes.
In the initial phase of development, existing, non-digitized processes at various locations in Germany and the Netherlands were analyzed. The findings were defined as requirements and examined and supplemented by interest groups as well as end users. As a result, the so-called user stories (requirements from the user's point of view) were described, categorized and prioritized. Subsequently, the page structure of the web application was designed and paper- and computer-based sketches (wireframes) were developed. In the last development phase, the final user interface was designed and individual pages were interactively linked to clickable mock-ups. These were permanently tested by users and continuously optimized until they could finally be handed over to the software development.
