To make matters worse, specialist appointments are scarce, and the majority of all conspicuous skin changes are statistically discovered by partners or relatives. For the more than 17 million people living alone in Germany, this protective eye in everyday life is completely missing, while independent checking or documenting quickly reaches physical limits.

Especially in life-saving early detection, low-threshold services are lacking that shift professional prevention into one's own privacy without hurdles. DermiONE was developed to anchor dermatological prevention exactly where people feel safest: at home. The screenless teledermatological dermatoscope connects seamlessly via Wi-Fi to a smartphone, tablet, or smart TV and can be easily borrowed from the local pharmacy. This prevents patients from having to purchase an expensive dermatoscope as an attachment for their smartphone. In light of ongoing health policy debates about cost-cutting in the healthcare system, the concept shows how potentially dangerous, long waiting times can be effectively bridged and previously undetected skin changes can be revealed in time.

The captured skin change is then marked on a digital body map so that the doctors can locate the spot exactly in case of suspicion.

In terms of design, DermiONE follows a minimalist, haptically pleasing, and organic design language intended to reduce reservations. The flowing transitions and seamless surfaces guarantee quick, thorough disinfection for the continuous rental cycle in the pharmacy.
