This thesis, written in cooperation with the company Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA deals with the topic of ‘Sustainability in medical technology - the influence of design’. As a central part of the healthcare sector, medical technology makes an important contribution to the basic care of every human being; on the other hand, the healthcare sector is responsible for more emissions worldwide (4.4%) than air traffic and shipping combined (Viamedica, 2020). This work aims to contribute to a more sustainable orientation of the industry by developing a practice-oriented concept that strengthens internal structures and capabilities and meets the specific requirements of the healthcare sector.
